A few of these "fire" images were produced in the late 1990s. The fire pieces were the first images to incorporate text. The offsetting of ink onto this deeply pigmented black paper was very weak, so the plate had to be inked and printed multiple times. The effect makes the text wispy and difficult to read, but also makes the image "dance" more like actual flame.
